Some Basics
-
Treat all stains as soon as possible.
-
Avoid heat (iron or dryer), it can cause stain to set into fibres of fabric.
- Check the Care Label on clothing before attempting to remove stain.
- Scrape off any excess material from the fabric using a dull edged knife. Use a cloth or paper towel to soak up any liquid.
Use a blotting method. Rubbing can cause the stain to penetrate the fabric deeper.
- Before using bleach on any stained clothing always test it on an unseen area of the garment.
Only proceed when satisfied that bleach will not harm garment.
Definitions
-
Detergent -- all-purpose synthetic detergent (liquid or powder). Use liquid detergent full strength; mix
powder with water to form a paste when working into stain.

- Pretreatment Product -- a commercial spray such as
Spray'n'Wash.

and spread onto stained area for better concentration of detergent.
